Eric Chelle Names 24-Man Super Eagles Squad For AFCON Qualifiers
Nigeria will take on Tanzania on November 13 and 17, 2026, as they begin their campaign to secure a place at the continental tournament.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named a 24-man squad for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Tanzania in November.

Nigeria will take on Tanzania on November 13 and 17, 2026, as they begin their campaign to secure a place at the continental tournament.
Experienced players, including captain Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi and Moses Simon, headline the squad, while several players return after injury layoffs.
Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo retain their places, while Francis Uzoho makes a return to the national team. Maduka Okoye, however, misses out on the selection.

In defence, Benjamin Frederick also returns alongside Bruno Onyemaechi, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Chibuike Nwaiwu and Bright Osayi-Samuel. Abdullahi Ibrahim Bewene is another new addition to the defensive department.
Midfielders Tochukwu Nnadi and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru return after recovering from injuries, while Mubarak Suleiman and Samson Tijani earn maiden competitive call-ups.
However, Nigeria will be without star striker Victor Osimhen, who is sidelined with a knee injury sustained while playing for Galatasaray. Samuel Chukwueze is also absent from the squad.
In attack, Tolu Arokodare, Taiwo Awoniyi and Akor Adams return to the team, while Moses Usor earns another opportunity following his impressive debut in September.
Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon are also included among the attacking options.
The full squad comprises three goalkeepers, eight defenders, eight midfielders and five forwards.
Nigeria will be hoping to begin their qualifying campaign on a positive note when they face Tanzania in the two encounters as they target a place at the 2027 AFCON.
